Bergama Tiyatrosu Akropolün çok dik bir yamacında, Zeus Sunağı' nın yakınında güney-batıya yönelik olarak yapılmıştır. Helenistik dönem tiyatrolarının en güzel yapıtlarından olup, II.Eumenes'in krallığı döneminde yapılmıştır.
Burada yapılan araştırmalar aynı yerde, Bergama Krallığı' nın ilk yıllarından kalma bir tiyatronun bulunduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Nitekim günümüze bu tiyatrodan polygonal örgülü destek duvarının bazı parçaları gelebilmiştir. Ayrıca ilk tiyatronun sahne binasının ahşaptan, geçici olarak yapıldığı, gösteriler bittikten sonra kaldırıldığı da ileri sürülmüştür. Tiyatro 80 oturma sırası ile 10.000 kişiyi alacak kapasitededir.Andezit taşından yapılan tiyatronun yalnızca asillere ayrılan bölümleri mermerdendir.Helenistik dönem tiyatrosu da ilk tiyatroda olduğu gibi sahne binası ahşaptı ve gösteri bittiğinde kaldırılıyordu.

Stunning. Easy access by cable car. Parking available should you choose to drive. Lots to see. The amphitheatre and the Sanctuary of Athena are particularly impressive. Must see site if you're in Bergama. 25 Turkish lira entrance fee.

Ancient city located on top of a hill. If you are in the area, a definite must see. Admission was 25 lira (2018) but is well worth it.

It will be a whole day course to take a look around this huge ruins. Do not miss the beautiful mosaic house. It is located at the bottom of the place.

A very impressive and dramatic Acropolis on top of a steep sided hill. We ascended the hill with the van but a cable car alternative is available. The most prominent building is the “Temple of Trajan” a huge marble temple. Other significant buildings have been partially re-constructed – Temple of Athena, the library, a theatre etc. It is certainly a very impressive place to visit.

One of the best and most impressive archaeological sites in Turkey. Refered as Pergamon, Pergamos or Pergamum; Bergama is the town current name. Bergama's acropolis is dramatically sited, located beautifully top of a hill to the northeast of the town centre. Take your time think about how determined the Greek in building this ancient town with complete urban facilities.
